BEGINNINGS
The James Farrell Concert Band has a long history of working to benefit the community, its roots can be traced to its origins as the St Patrick's Band, formed in 1937, and later renamed after Canon James Farrell who recognised the benefits it could bring to a hard pressed community in the centre of Leeds.
During the summer we have regularly participated in the Leeds ’Bands in the Park’ events - Roundhay Park, Lotherton Hall,Golden Acre Park,Horsforth Hall Park. The charities we support have also provided opportunities for events in support of their work - in previous years we have played at Goole, Bramley and Carlton Towers. We have also performed indoors, including joint concerts with the local choral societies. We are looking to continue performing at such venues in the future.
